(1) As a tutoring service, we serve as assistants to your child's teacher. This means we discuss which areas of learning are in need of attention and what materials are currently being used to facilitate pedagogical experiences.
With this information, we then develop a roadmap, highlighted with goals, for your child's progress. Tutoring addresses grade-appropriate levels of mastery regarding current school subjects.
What makes this a family-centered approach to learning is that our tutors only meet with children during school hours with parent(s) present. We find that greater attention emerges from within the child when a family member is present during tutoring; in this method, children are much less likely to demonstrate behavioral issues. Focus on schoolwork is thus improved.
Including family in the tutoring process makes
your child's journey into a team effort,
and this becomes a winning key for success.
(2) We believe that building rapport with students is another key
to school success. With this in mind, we offer an additional option in our family-centered approach to learning: the opportunity to work with your child at home, with parent(s) present.
An important life skill is being able to apply classroom learning to the outside world. This ability naturally grows as your child grows. By working with us in your home, your child will better connect to what is being learned. That's why such in-home visits are offered: they provide a pathway for a child to make associations of learning beyond the classroom
We see a tutor as the bridge from school to community. Working with children and families in this way helps build rapport; it also helps us gain a better sense of a child's likes and dislikes. In this way, activities are better tailored toward your child's unique personality, making learning fun and enjoyable for everyone on the team.
(3) The greatest opportunity for school success happens when all educational keys are used together. We therefore offer in-classroom teaching and in-home learning as a single, family-centered support package. In this way, the benefits of the first two options are multiplied for your child - and we as community educators aim towards that.
If you are a family in Cheverly, Maryland, who is looking for a tutoring service tailored toward the specific needs of your child, and if you want someone who has a proven track record for community service, then please call us at 1 (813) 363-4228; we'd love to hear from you.
