Have you ever looked at a movie and wondered, "Wow - what is that?" Such moments can make you sit back and begin new exploration.
This is what happened to me, years ago, when I was a child.
At that time, I was a member of the local Cub Scout's troop. I became friends with a boy from Asia while there. One afternoon, we were watching television when a defining moment happened. The T.V. movie featured was a Kung Fu story that showed a man sitting, cross-legged, in the center of a room. His eyes were closed - silent and still - as a candle burned brightly in front of him. I asked, "What is he doing?" He was meditating. So intrigued, I went home that very night and began meditating as I drifted asleep.
Over the years, as my interests grew from watching science fiction to studying university psychology, skills developed at quieting the mind and slowing down thoughts. This has been an indispensable tool for life and becoming healthier, and that is why I meditate today.
